Recently OARSI has decided to embark upon another initiative to enrich the membership experience. This primer in OA is an educational tool for persons seeking to acquire basic and clinical knowledge about osteoarthritis. This includes scientists, graduate students, educators, and any training clinicians involved in OA management including Rheumatology, Orthopaedics, Primary Care and Allied Health.
The editors of the first edition of the primer are Yves Henrotin, Hiroshi Kawaguchi and David Hunter. The authors have been selected, invited and have accepted their responsibilities to this important innovation. The chapters include a diverse array of information from basic science, through clinical research focussing on providing the naive with some background information. Each chapter will be ~3,500 words in length and include ~4-6 display items and up to 120 references. They will be peer-reviewed and edited to reinforce our high quality. We anticipate the online primer to be uploaded by March 31st 2011. It will be a living document that is revised every 12 months.
