CALL FOR EDITOR
NEW OARSI ONLINE JOURNAL- Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Open
The Osteoarthritis Research Society International’s Publications Committee is inviting applications for the position of Editor of our new journal, Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Open.
The application deadline is August 31, 2018. ( NEW DATE)
The term for the first editor of OAC Open is January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2021 however some duties will begin in early Fall for an anticipated launch in January, 2019.
Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Open will be an international, fully peer-reviewed, multidisciplinary journal similar to OAC. The objective will be to publish findings from the clinical and basic sciences in all fields of research of relevance to osteoarthritis, cartilage, and intervertebral disc. It will also accept clinical study protocols and manuscripts describing the large data sets obtained from experimental or clinical studies.
Terms-of-Reference
Manuscripts will be accepted by either direct submission or by author transfer from Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (OAC). For manuscripts that are submitted to OAC and are reviewed favorably but not accepted, authors will have the option to transfer the paper over to Osteoarthritis and Cartilage Open. The reviews will follow the paper.
The Editor will determine the membership of the editorial board.
The Editor is responsible to the OARSI Publications Committee and the OARSI Board of Directors, and is an ex officio member of each of these groups.
STIPENDS
The stipend for the Editor is $25,000 annually with an additional $10,000 allocated for the editorial team. The term is three years with a potential for a second three year term.
APPLICANTS
Applicants must have served (currently or in the past) in an editorial capacity of a journal in the field. The individual should also have leadership experience and be able to demonstrate institutional support and time availability. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the OARSI Publications Committee and Board of Directors.
Applications will be accepted through August 1 and should include:
1) Summary of philosophy concerning journal editorship
2) Your vision for the first 3 years of the journal.
3) Recommendations on how you would promote the new journal and encourage submissions
4) Description of prior editorial experience
5) Description of the editorial board- please consider geographic diversity consistent with the OARSI international membership
6) CV
